Fourth of July may be over, but we’re still in the heart of summer here at Lake Martin! The lake is full of families and friends enjoying boating, water sports, fishing, swimming and so on this time of year. If you’re already at Lake Martin, don’t miss a bit of the local fun this summer season. Here’s a list of upcoming events to enjoy at and around the lake:
1. SpringHouse is hosting their Justin Wine Dinner tonight, July 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. This is a specifically designed menu that pairs beautifully with Justin Wines. If it’s too late to get tickets for this one, SpringHouse also hosts Sunday Night Supper, special family-style dinners on select Sundays. The next one is coming up July 28.
2. Strand Sessions take place the first Thursday of the month in Strand Park, but because of the holiday, this month’s Strand Session is tonight, July 11! Enjoy live music from around the area from 6 to 9 p.m. This is free and family-friendly. Outside food and beverages are allowed. Bring your folding chairs or blankets! The next event will be Aug. 1.
3. Friday on the Green takes place every Friday evening in the summertime, with free live music from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Russell Crossroads! Coolers, chairs and leashed dogs are welcome. This Friday, July 12, is Richard Murray and Rusty Brown. Next Friday, July 19, is Sid Phelps.
4. Wake Battle VII takes place at Smith Lake Park this Saturday, July 13! Enjoy watching the best in water sports battle it out on Lake Martin!
5. Music on the Deck at Kowaliga Restaurant is also a great live music option at Lake Martin in the summer! Grab a seat on the deck and enjoy food and drinks while listening to music. This Sunday, July 14, is Jilla Webb from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., ranging from jazz to blues.
6. If after watching the Wake Battle or seeing water sports on Lake Martin this summer, you decide you’d like to try it or improve your skill, sign up for the All Wakesurf Clinic on July 18 at River North Marina. Cost is $50. Small group instruction comes from professional wakeboard riders and surfers.
7. The Lions Lake Martin Charity Poker Run will take place July 20. Participants will register and draw their first card at The Ridge Marina, then draw a card at each of the next four stops along the way, hoping to win the $1,700 prize! An after party will ensue at Kowaliga Restaurant. Registration is $160 per hand.
