Are you starting to get cabin fever this winter in Lake Martin? It’s been a cold one! As your Lake Martin real estate team, we’re here to fill you in on some upcoming activities. Get out and enjoy all that our local communities have to offer this winter season!
Polar Plunge – Are you brave enough to plunge into Lake Martin this weekend? On Jan. 13, the Lake Martin Young Professionals will host their annual Polar Plunge at Kowalinga Restaurant! Walk, run or dive into the lake, and then enjoy food and drink specials, a warm up tent, music, fun and games. There is also a “Dash for the Cash,†which is a short race to buoy and back, with winner taking home $100 cash. Prizes will be awarded for best Polar Plunge costumes as well. Cost to participate is $20 and proceeds benefit the Lake Martin Resource Association. And you get bragging rights for swimming in the middle of winter!
Nutritional Workshop – Head to Anytime Fitness in downtown Alexander City for a Free Nutritional Workshop on Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon! Shay.Dean.Aesthetics is hosting. You can RSVP to Shay at 256-537-4307. For anyone who included a nutritional, health or fitness-related new year’s resolution, this is for you. Also, Anytime Fitness has numerous offerings for the new year, including a 7-week free trial, so talk to a staff member if looking for a gym to join this winter!
Trash Walk Clean Up – If you’d like to help clean up trash around Alexander City and beautiful Lake Martin, volunteer your time on Jan. 27! Everyone will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Broad Street Plaza in front of Jake’s. There you will receive supplies and littered routes to clean up. This is a great way to stretch your legs and get some exercise during the winter season, to do something positive for your community, and to meet others in the area, especially if you recently relocated!
Main Street Mardi Gras Gumbo Cook-Off – This annual event is at the beginning of next month of Feb. 3! From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to Queen’s Attic in Alexander City to enjoy mouthfuls of delicious, locally made gumbo! If you’d like to build a team, the entry fee is $100 per team, with cash prizes for winners! You could also be a judge. If you’re just going to taste, tickets cost $10 per adult.
For more local events and activities, keep up with the Alexander Main Street Facebook page, as local restaurants and bars often host events throughout the week, and local businesses offer specials. Keep up with our Lake Martin Facebook page too, as we post about local events when we see them!
