From the water to the surrounding area, here’s a list of some of your best summertime Lake Martin activity options:
Boating – During these hot summer months, the best activity on Lake Martin is any activity that gets you out on the water! Whether you have your own boat, or you rent one for a day or weekend, you’ve got plenty of options. Enjoy speed on a jet ski or speed boat, relax and cruise on a pontoon boat, or paddle through the waters on a kayak, fishing boat or paddleboard. Lots of options!
Water Sports – If you do have a large boat, like a speed boat or pontoon boat, try your luck at water sports! Kids love the classic water tubing, and older kids and adults can try a variety of sports, such as water skiing, water surfing, wakeboaring and more. You can purchase or rent this equipment!
Swimming – Whether you’re jumping in from your boat in the middle of the water, or you’re slowly making your way in from the shore, swimming is always a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. Just be sure to wear lifejackets, stay close to the boat or shore, and be aware of where other boaters are.
Attractions – While you cruise around Lake Martin, know about the popular places to visit! Chimney Rock is a beautiful rock formation. Many people like to jump into the lake from these cliffs. There are even food trucks on the water! Goat Island is exactly how it sounds. This island is home to herds of goats. Children’s Harbor has a lighthouse, making it a great scenic spot to stop.
Golfing – How does golfing right along the shores of Lake Martin sound? Will Point Golf & Country Club has been called America’s most beautiful lakefront golf course, with beautiful Lake Martin coming into play on six holes. The club also includes a lakeside pool, docks, cabana, tennis, dining and more.
Trails – Whether hiking, biking, running or horseback riding, Lake Martin has beautiful trails and paths for you to enjoy early in the morning or later in the evening, when it isn’t as hot. Russell Forest has more than 100 miles of trails to help you reconnect with nature. Smith Mountain is another great option, with gorgeous views of Lake Martin! The Stables at Russell Crossroads is a great horseback riding option.
AMP – The AMP on Lake Martin is a great place to catch a summer concert outdoors! They will host their annual Labor Day Weekend Concert to close the season on Sept. 1. Russell Lands host numerous events weekly and monthly for you to enjoy as well!
