We’ve got some exciting weekends coming up at Lake Martin! Summer is quickly approaching, and with it comes a slew of live music, art festivals, beer dinners, river floats and more. Plus, with school out soon and Memorial Day marking the unofficial beginning of summer, things are really heating up at the lake!

To help you plan the rest of your May, including Memorial Day weekend, here’s a list of local upcoming events.

1.  Hatchet Creek Festival is this weekend, May 19 and 20! Registration was due by April 30, so if you registered, you’re in for a fun weekend of floating, camping and campfires! If you didn’t register, keep a look out for the group floating down Hatchet Creek in Coosa County, or head out on your own float trip anytime this summer.

2.  Celebrate Armed Forces Day with a Picnic in the Park this Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Strand Park. The event is free and open to the public! Enjoy veteran service organizations, military vehicles, photo opportunities, activities for kids, and food vendors with food available to purchase.

3.  SpringHouse is hosting a special SpringHouse – Blackberry Farm Beer Dinner on Thursday, May 24. Register ahead of time and then enjoy a specially crafted dinner from SpringHouse, paired with beers from Blackberry Farm. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m. on the front lawn followed by a three-course dinner at 7 p.m.

4.  RXR Fest will take place at the Town Green at Russell Crossroads May 26 through May 27! Enjoy three nights of live music for free. On Friday, Belle Adair will perform at 6 p.m. followed by AJ Ghent at 8 p.m. Saturday’s lineup is The Bank Walkers from Lake Martin at 6 p.m. and Tyler Mac at 8. Sunday’s lineup is King Corduroy at 6 and Lamont Landers Band at 8. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and coolers with beverages and snacks and enjoy a fun outdoor weekend!

5.  Art on the Lake will take place on the grounds of Children’s Harbor Chapel and Hank’s Cabin, against the shore of Lake Martin! Browse art and jewelry crafted by more than 40 artists. Saturday, May 26, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch and live entertainment, and Sunday will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds help fund Children’s Harbor camps, counseling and support services for children with long-term illnesses, this is an excellent event to support!
